I love the dolls made by Soren, my LiveJournal friend. This one is my favorite, with the oak leaf wings and acorn hat. So very fall!
You can see more of Soren's work on her blog Rivermade.
From the inside of a 1960s children's biology book. Artist is Charles Harper.
I love the cat and the oddly suggestive fruit.
If you click on the photo it takes you to a page with information on Iranian painting.
The is one of those paintings I could look at for a long time. It's interesting to see the diferent way each animal is holding it's instrument. The way the light falls gives it kind of a 3d effect. The medium is gouche, kind of an opaque watercolor. I've always had problems trying to paint with it, so I really admire anyone who call produce that effect.
I like the colors in this one, the bright white and deep green, red and blue. It has that feel of abstract art of the late 1950s.
I like this one because it's a beautiful and clever image, and because I'm always happy to see summer end. Fall is my favorite time of the year. I hate hot weather and it's such a relief to see the last of it.
I love this artist's series of 100 Tea Pot still lifes. They are bright and primitive and funny. A lot of them have cactus too, which I am partial to.
You can see more of the series here.
