Harvest Doll

DSCF0084.JPG, originally uploaded by rivervoodoo.

I love the dolls made by Soren, my LiveJournal friend. This one is my favorite, with the oak leaf wings and acorn hat. So very fall!

You can see more of Soren's work on her blog Rivermade.

I love the cat and the oddly suggestive fruit.

If you click on the photo it takes you to a page with information on Iranian painting.

Evening in neighbourhood

Evening in neighbourhood, originally uploaded by Sekana Radovic.

This painting reminds me of Toronto a little, in the colors and shape of the building.

Jugalbandhi

Jugalbandhi, originally uploaded by venantius.

The is one of those paintings I could look at for a long time. It's interesting to see the diferent way each animal is holding it's instrument. The way the light falls gives it kind of a 3d effect. The medium is gouche, kind of an opaque watercolor. I've always had problems trying to paint with it, so I really admire anyone who call produce that effect.

Dance of the symbols

Dance of the symbols, originally uploaded by Sekana Radovic.

I like the colors in this one, the bright white and deep green, red and blue. It has that feel of abstract art of the late 1950s.

a farewell to summer

a farewell to summer, originally uploaded by Cilest.

I like this one because it's a beautiful and clever image, and because I'm always happy to see summer end. Fall is my favorite time of the year. I hate hot weather and it's such a relief to see the last of it.

I love this artist's series of 100 Tea Pot still lifes. They are bright and primitive and funny. A lot of them have cactus too, which I am partial to.

You can see more of the series here.
